• July 25, 2026Jehovah's Witnesses drop their appeal in a 1999 New Jersey tax-deal fight, leaving the federal dismissal to stand

  An earlier version of this article said the Third Circuit appeal was still pending. In fact the congregation dismissed its appeal on 21 July 2026, and the court dismissed the case the same day.

• July 24, 2026Brooklyn suit alleges 1980s abuse at Bethel, using New York City's new gender-violence look-back window

  An earlier version said that no lawyer had entered an appearance for the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses. The court's Case Detail page records Carl J. Schaerf, of Kerley Walsh Matera & Cinquemani PC, as counsel for the Governing Body from 15 July 2026 — six days before the 21 July review date that version cited. The error came from reading only NYSCEF's list of filed documents, which carries no notice of appearance for him, and not the separate page on which counsel of record are listed.

• July 24, 2026Brooklyn suit alleges 1980s abuse at Bethel, using New York City's new gender-violence look-back window

  An article published on 21 July 2026 said that no response from the defendant organizations could be located. In fact counsel for the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York had entered an appearance on 13 July 2026, eight days earlier, on the public court docket. JW Files had been unable to reach that docket and should have said so, rather than reporting the limits of its own search as a finding about the case. This correction was first published on 21 July 2026 and was dropped from the corrections log in error; it is restored here.

• July 10, 2026Sweden Denies Jehovah's Witnesses State Subsidies, Then a Court Orders Them Restored

  An earlier version said the Agency for Support to Faith Communities (SST) appealed the Stockholm Administrative Court's 7 May 2026 ruling to the Kammarratten. The appeal was in fact filed by the Swedish Agency for Youth and Civil Society (MUCF), which took over administration of state grants to faith communities on 1 January 2026, when SST was wound up. SST did issue the original October 2025 denial. The earlier version also said Jehovah's Witnesses secured grant eligibility in 2019 through Sweden's Supreme Administrative Court; in fact the government granted eligibility in 2019 after that court repeatedly overturned its rejections.
