Letter Of Disassociation

10-26-2001 By Jason Williams

Dear Brothers,

As I write you this letter I write it not in hate nor anger nor even bitterness but in Truth. As many are aware I have been accused of Apostasy. And I have been subjected to much cruel treatment by those who once walked with me in my service for God. Ones that I looked up to for support and direction and felt a deep love and loyalty for. Ones that I thought wouldn't dare turn their backs on me because of "TRUTH." As a JW, I always believed that we were constantly proclaiming Truth. That we all had a loyalty to Truth that set us apart from the mainline Churches. That our love for Truth would never stumble us even if we once held an idea that contradicted Truth. We were taught to search the Scriptures to see whether the things being taught were from God (1 John 4:1). Even the WT has stated that we should examine what we believe to see whether it is true or false. Since we do not want our worship to be in vain, it is important for each one of us to examine his religion.

"We need to examine, not only what we 'personally' believe, but also what is taught by any religious organization with which we may be associated. Are its teachings in full harmony with God's Word, or are they based on the traditions of men? If we are lovers of Truth, there IS NOTHING TO FEAR FROM SUCH AN EXAMINATION. It should be the sincere desire of every one of us to learn what God's will is for us, and then to do it.-John 8.32" (The Truth that leads to Eternal Life, P.13)

But what if when someone examines his or her own religion and finds out that it is wrong in many areas. Deceptive at times and flat out dishonest, what should he/she do? As the WT states Knowing these things, what will you do? It is obvious that the true God, who himself is the "God of Truth" and who hates lies, will not look with favor on persons who cling to organizations that teach falsehood. (Psalm 31:5; Proverbs 6:16-19; Rev 21:8)

"And, really, would you want to be even associated with a religion that had not been honest with you?" (Is This Life all There is? p.46)

So may I ask why I have been subjected to name calling and shunning when all I have been doing is following the directions of the Faithful and Discreet Slave? Or does the counsel only apply to non-JWs? I can't help but wonder how men can write such literature that contradicts every thing they stand for? Truth is only important when it doesn't step out of the boundaries of the Organization. But what should someone do when the Organization steps out of the boundaries of Truth? As the WT states:

"Can there be false religion? It is not a form of religious persecution for anyone to say and to show that another religion is false. It is not religious persecution for an informed person to expose publicly a certain religion as being false, thus allowing persons to see the difference between false religion and true religion." (WT 11/15/63, p.688)

May I ask again why I am being condemned as an apostate when I am only following the directions of the Faithful and Discreet Slave? Do you men realize what it feels like to be shunned just because you are following directions from "Gods spirit-directed Organization?" What's more important: Truth or an Organization? (John 17.3) When an Organization claims to be Prophets of God (WT 4/1/72 p.197) but yet there claims are based, not on Scriptures but on falsehood, what should you do? When men set dates and times for the Return of our Lord but yet they fail to come true how should we view them? Again in the WT own words:

"True, there have been those in times past who predicted an 'End to the World,' even announcing a specific date [1914, 1918, 1925, WW1, WW2, 1975]. Some have gathered groups of people with them and fled to the hills [or waited on the Brooklyn Bridge in their suits for the Lord to return and take them to heaven; see Proclaimers Book where Russell and others waited for the Lord to take them away] or withdrawn into their houses waiting for the end. Yet, nothing happened. The "end" did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was missing? Missing was the full measure of evidence required in fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Missing from such people were God's Truth and the evidence that he was guiding and using them. (AWAKE 10/8/68 p.23; see the Proclaimers book page 61 about their thought of being caught up to heaven in October 1914)

Doesn't that fit the description of the WT? Haven't they set dates for the End of this World? Again in the Watchtower's own words:

...we present proofs that the setting up of the kingdom of God is already begun" and that the "battle of the great day of God Almighty" (Rev 16.14) which shall end A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth's present rulership. (Studies in the Scriptures II - The Time Is At Hand, p. 101, though this was changed in later editions of 1915)

Like Jesus said you will "Judge yourself with your own words." I could go on with dates such as 1799, 1874, 1878, 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975, just to name a few. All played a part in the theology of "Gods spirit-directed Organization." Then how come none of the dates set were ever fulfilled? Again the WT answers my question in their own words:

"Missing from such people were God's truths and the evidence that he was guiding and using them" (AWAKE 10/8/68, p. 23)

So, then, by their own words?????? I don't mean to sound dogmatic, rude nor unloving! But sometimes Truth isn't always what we are ready to face no matter how much we boast about it? We may claim that God directs us in our ways but what do the records reveal? And when the records contradict our claims, what do we do? I would hope that all would turn aside from falsehood and cling to Truth! By the Words of the WT and many JWs, I always thought that's what we were searching for? But in my case and my dealings with many Brothers and Sisters I have only found that it is an illusion never to be attained! Not because the Truth is unattainable but because the boundaries of the Organization doesn't permit it. "The Way" as the early Christians called it has been replaced by a man-made, highly structured Organization! As one JW once told me when I told him about my questions I had for the Society, he said: "Whatever isn't from the Society is from the Devil." I can't help but wonder how people can be so narrow-minded when Truth is at stake? How people can shut their ears and hearts as well as their common sense from what they claim to be in pursuit of and represent? If it is true that anything that isn't from the Society is from Satan then may I ask where did the WT first president, Charles Russell, get his information from? May I also ask where in the world did this fine Brother get the idea that anything outside of the publications is from the Devil? Who put that idea in his head? The more I think the more I hurt. The man of Lawlessness is at work that I believe to be the Leaders of the WT, the Governing Body (2 Thes 2:1-16) Who else could make such claims as:

"It is vital that we appreciate this fact and respond to the directions of the 'slave' as we would to the voice of God, because it is his provision"
(WT 6/15/57 p. 370)

What authority do men have to make such claims? Only that of the "man of lawlessness" could make such claims! To proclaim that you were appointed by God in 1914 and to proclaim that the Good News is that Jesus Christ was enthroned as King in 1914 makes me wonder what was the good news that the Apostles preached? You say that Jesus was enthroned as King in 1914, the Scriptures state that the Apostles preached that there was another King rather than Caesar. (Acts 17:7) So when was he ruling as King? Are we to suggest that the WT teaches a different Good News? (Galations 1:6-9) As I have stated above and through out this letter my focus and goal was Truth and I believe that I have established my point rather well. Though I am well aware of the name that many will label me with (Apostate) and the bitterness many may feel towards me because they may feel that I have forsaken Jehovah (Yahweh), I can't accept the teachings of men above the teachings of Christ. Wouldn't you agree? And I must follow my Master rather than men! I must serve Yahweh the Creator rather than the GB the creation (Romans 1:25) who is blessed forever!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I would like to Disassociate myself from the Organization known as Jehovah's Witnesses. My hands are clean. I have done all that I can to show you that there is something better and I did all in the boundaries of the WT Organization just to prove that Truth is more powerful than any Organization! In the words of the WT that Charles Russell wrote, in 1914;

"Are we not a blessed, happy people? Is not our God Faithful? If any one knows anything better, let him take it. If any of you ever find anything better I hope you will tell us." (WT 12/1/90 P.19)

Though I don't believe that there is anything out there better than the Word of God I do believe there is a better way to worship him than in the realms of the WT World and in the arms of the Governing Body (GB). So please as soon as possible announce me as Disassociated from the Organization. These are my wishes and I pray that my request will be fulfilled in good Christian character.

Best Regards,

Jason Williams
